Cornwall comes together to support overseas care workers

Corserv care joins a range of organisations across Cornwall that have come together to support international care workers living in Cornwall.

It recently came to light that a care employer with offices in Redruth was not complying with the legal framework that allows international workers to come to the UK and take up employment.

This resulted in staff being unable to fulfil the conditions of their visa and not able to financially support themselves.

Cornwall Council have been working with voluntary organisations and other partners to provide them with immediate practical support and then put them in touch with alternative employers.

Corserv Care are one of the care companies offering employment to some of the workers. Alison Waller, their Managing Director said:

“It has been our pleasure to support this process and we are extremely grateful to have workers of a very high calibre, many of whom speak English very well and have care qualifications.

“I know they will be a real asset to our teams here at Corserv, providing a high standard of care to our vulnerable residents here in Cornwall.”

This heartening effort demonstrates the power of community and compassion in Cornwall.
